These terms are between you and J&J Technical Services ("we"), which operates Handoff. By creating an account you agree to them.

Not legal, tax, or financial advice

The Handoff is an organizing tool. Its checklists, closeout plans, and drafted letters are general information and templates, not legal, tax, or financial advice, and not a will, trust, power of attorney, or any other legal document. Talk to a licensed professional about your situation.

Your account and content

You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for the accuracy of what you enter. Don't store full account numbers, Social Security numbers, or passwords; The Handoff is designed not to need them. You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission to store and process it only to run The Handoff for you, including releasing it as you've directed.

Trusted people and releases

You choose who your trusted people are and which keepsakes each one receives. A release happens only after a trusted person you named requests it with documentation, our staff approves it, and your waiting period passes without you stopping it. We make a good-faith review of the documents provided, but we can't guarantee that a determined person couldn't deceive us with forged documents, and we aren't liable for releases made in good faith under this process. You can stop a pending release, or lock your file again, at any time by signing in.

Acceptable use

Don't upload anything illegal, anything you don't have the right to share, or malware. Don't try to access anyone else's account or data. We may suspend accounts that do.

Price

The Handoff is free right now. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you in advance and you can choose whether to continue.

Availability and liability

We work hard to keep The Handoff secure and available, but it's provided "as is." Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may close an account that violates these terms.
